Measured 6 November 2026 in Chromium on a Pixel 5 profile with 4x CPU slowdown and a 1.6 Mbps, 150 ms network, home page only. Original and new site.
The problem
The old home page loaded 55 requests and 1.6 MB. On a throttled phone the largest element appeared after 5.5 seconds, and the phone numbers sat inside a banner image.
The idea
Rebuild it as static Astro with the real truck as the hero, oversized type for the name, and real quote and call buttons on the first screen.
The outcome
The new home page is 311 KB across 15 requests, and the largest element paints at 2.1 seconds under the same test.
